Our Aims

empowering our community
We welcome all tenants and residents to join the Association, attend meetings, and participate in decision-making. OORA advocates for local interests by engaging with Peabody Trust, councillors, and service providers to address shared concerns.
Strengthen Community Safety and Wellbeing
We work with the local authority, police, and housing partners to improve safety, reduce anti-social behaviour, and promote a sense of security and belonging for everyone on the estate.
Invest in Young People and Families
Our work with local youth services and the Family Hub aims to provide meaningful opportunities, safe spaces, and better outcomes for the next generation growing up in Old Oak.
Care for Our Green Spaces and Environment
Through our Green Shoots Gardening Group, we work to protect and improve green spaces, tackle litter and fly tipping, and promote community activities such as gardening, composting, and local walking tours. We are reimagining our outdoor areas as clean, safe, and inviting spaces that bring people together. Wormwood Scrubs is the largest green space in LBHF and sits within the boundary of our ward; the Old Oak Estate was built as a model 'Cottage Garden Estate' in the 1930s - the value of green space is at the heart of our neighbourhood.
Celebrate and Protect Our Local Character
We promote awareness of Old Oak’s unique history and conservation status, working with planners and landlords to ensure future developments respect and enhance our neighbourhood’s distinct identity.
We provide guidance and advocacy for social housing tenants to ensure that landlords carry out their obligations for property maintenance so that all who live here have access to warm and safe homes.
.
Create a Central Hub for Community Life
By encouraging regular face-to-face meetings, events, and shared spaces at the Community Centre and beyond, we’re working to establish a 'village centre' where people can gather, exchange ideas, and support one another. OORA keeps residents informed and connected through meetings, WhatsApp, a website, social media —offering clear, two-way communication on local events, updates, and ways to get involved.
